Welcome to the website of the Annual GROW-Net Conference on "Disaggregating Civil War: Transitions, Governance and Intervention" in Zurich, Switzerland, September 18-20, 2008. Here you can find information about the program, accommodation and travel.
This GROW-Net conference of the European Collaborative Research Project “Disaggregating Civil Wars” (06_ECRP_FP004) is funded by the European Science Foundation and the research project “Democratizing Divided Societies in Bad Neighborhoods” by the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research “Challenges to Democracy in the 21st Century”, as well as the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Our intention is to build on the success of the first annual GROW-Net conference held at the University of Essex, November 24-25, 2007.
This year’s title is Disaggregating Civil War: Democracy, Ethnicity and Intervention, which indicates the three main substantive themes of our meeting covered in the panels "Regime transition and civil war", "Governance of divided societies and civil war", and "Intervention in civil war". In addition, we will cover methodological and data-related themes in separate panels. Please refer to the program for more details.
The conference will mainly be held on the Uetliberg outside Zurich. Accommodation for the first night will be Hotel du Théâtre across the river from the Central Station. The actual meeting will be held from Friday morning (Sep 19) through Saturday afternoon (Sep 20) at Hotel Uto Kulm on the Uetliberg overlooking Zurich.
If you have general questions regarding the conference please contact Prof. Lars-Erik Cederman.
